Our Story

CORE Engineering Inc. is a locally owned mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm established in 1982 and located in the heart of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Our firm was formed with the acquisition of an established engineering firm having 25 years of successful consulting experience, providing a considerable depth of knowledge and experience from the onset.

We at CORE have successfully undertaken numerous challenging projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond, and are very proud of our accomplishments, especially in the field of energy conscious design. We also take considerable pride in consistently providing design solutions which result in projects which are among the most economical and efficient in the industry. Our firm has designed countless buildings within the province, with several achieving LEED Silver Certification by the Canada Green Building Council for meeting LEED Canada for New Construction and Major Renovations criterion and has designed two buildings having achieved LEED Gold Certification.

At CORE, we are never satisfied with the ‘status quo’. We are continually looking for improvements in our designs and we feel strongly that our clients benefit greatly from this approach. Incorporating an innovation mindset into our design philosophy is a commitment that we at CORE take very seriously. The structure of our design environment is such that unique ideas are shared and reviewed by multiple designers, ensuring that innovative but sound engineering solutions are achieved, in balance with cost and maintainability considerations.

We also follow an integrated design approach whereby design considerations are not made unilaterally to the benefit a single discipline, but rather, decisions are made to benefit the project as a whole. Our continuing efforts to facilitate detailed coordination between all of the disciplines involved in a project, including architectural, structural and civil disciplines, ensure that systems designed are able to be constructed with minimal interferences.
