Commissioned in 2017 this project focused on upgrades to systems and spaces to meet stringent CSA requirements to achieve the requirements for Airborne Infectious Isolation. Through detailed phasing planning and construction, asbestos abatement planning and stringent infection control measures these room were demolished, renovated and commissioned within an active intensive Care unit (ICU).

Work on these rooms included sealing and testing of the room envelopes to achieve the CSA specified negative pressures, new hospital rated acoustical attenuation, new emergency electrical power, room pressure controls and monitoring system, laboratory high plume fan and modifications to utilize existing air supply without major upgrades to that system. Other elements included modernizing items to meet current CSA Z8000 and infection control requirements including installation of hand wash sinks.
