Located in Springdale, NL, this community health centre is an approximately 3,000 square metre facility with an original construction value of approximately $13M. It includes space for physicians’ clinics, diagnostic and laboratory services, rehabilitation, an emergency department with nine-bed in-patient area.
Electrical services included design of power distribution, lighting, emergency power, life safety systems, communications, data and security. Mechanical services included design of plumbing, domestic water system, fire protection, medical gases, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, building control and energy management and generator. The project was designed using LEED principles with energy conservation in mind including use of heat recovery systems. The building heating system draws primarily upon air-to-water heat pumps with delivery via in-floor for optimal comfort.
